Coastal & Village Walking

Whether you wish to explore its spectacular and varied coastline or its dozen hill top villages, on foot is the way to fully appreciate this tranquil and peaceful island. From September to November the sea is still warm and welcoming; through December enjoy the highly decorative Christmas atmosphere of the villages. From early Spring onwards, bathe in the beauty of the light and wild flowers.

Gozo is at the same latitude as Tunis so sun protection is sensible, especially as a sea breeze somewhat masks the strength of the sun. Coastal and agricultural paths are stony so wear comfortable walking shoes or sandals. Carry some water and in case of accidents, a charged mobile phone and off you go!

For the more energetic visitor, mountain bikes are available for hire. A perfect way to explore more of the island.

Walk the whole 37 km coastline of Gozo at a leisurely pace in about three days or combine walking with swimming, photography or sketching.

As gentle and short or as long and arduous as you wish, the coast, hills and valleys of Gozo can meet every level of fitness. Pick up and drop off arrangements can be arranged, or use local buses.

Whilst you can’t really get lost on Gozo, signposts are rather lacking on this small island so sometimes a local guide can make your experience more rewarding, whilst you learn more about the local heritage, birds and flora including the edible and medicinal.
